An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a certain Internet site. Any file that was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one page with 3 embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the 6 files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the functionality of a site, independent of the web statistics which your server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every single domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you don't require one, you'll be able to stop it with simply a mouse click from the very same section of the Control Panel. You shall still be able to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll have the option to trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs with just a few clicks in your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this feature within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access as soon as you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is one click on the On button that you can see there. The function can be activated separately for any site regardless if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you shall find a complete list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with simply a click and you may then look at it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation may be stopped by simply changing the On option to Off within the Logs section of your CP.
