Each desktop or notebook or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, and any applications that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, every single application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We provide as many as 3 different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the most stable and reliable OSs available and we provide all three instead of only one as we realize that you may want to set up some software which has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software programs you can install on the server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you would like to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you want another OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you would like. We also offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to acquire one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice with regard to the system environment on your machine as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and safe hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you've selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also upgrade your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
